Marilyn Gilmore Obituary

Mrs. Marilyn Gilmore, 61, transitioned from this life on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Atrium Healthcare Main in Charlotte, NC.  Born September 28, 1962 in York County, she was a daughter of the late James and LoAlice Smith and Charles Wade.  She celebrated 41 years of marriage with her husband, John. R. Gilmore.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 4, 2024 at St. Luke No. 1 Baptist Church in Sharon, SC. Mrs. Gilmore may be viewed from 2:00 to 3:00 pm prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Marilyn L. Gilmore of 1744 Ogden Road, Rock Hill, SC returned home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2024. She was born on September 28, 1962 in York, SC to the late  James & LoAlice Smith and Charles Wade.

She was raised in Clover, SC where she attended Clover High School. She was employed at Ina Bearings in Fort Mill, SC for many years where she retired.

Mrs. Mailyn joined St. Luke#1 Baptist Church at an early age. She was a devoted member until she transitioned. She served as Group leader of Group 2 ushers. She also made sure that every year for Family Day trophies and Crown were ready. She also served on the Pastors Aide Committee. She loved her church and church family and any area she could help in the ministry she did with pride. No matter any obstacles she faced, she not only loved the Lord but trusted God all the way. Always encouraging people to Pray and to put it in God’s hands no matter the situation, she was always ready to encourage and to deposit words of wisdom.

Her hobbies included gardening with a special interest in her flowers. She looked forward to every spring and summer landscaping her yard to showcase her beautiful hard work. She also loved Christmas and watching Christmas movies.  Family and friends enjoyed every year stopping by to view her beautiful Christmas trees in every room of her home. Her attention to detail was very special. She also loved watching western shows and movies and anything on the Hallmark channel.   She enjoyed shopping not only for herself but purchasing something for others to brighten their day. She was not only creative but also stylish.

She enjoyed spending time with family and making them smile with her famous banana pudding and other gourmet specialties.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, the Late Mr. and Mrs. James & LoAlice Smith and Mr. Charles Wade.

She leaves behind sweet and loving memories with Her husband of 41 years Mr. John R. Gilmore; her children: Rev. Chico J. Gilmore, Melody D. Gilmore, Iesha Y. Gilmore, Demetria Gordon, and Ezra Gore; Grandchildren: Seven M. Smith and  Tequavious Gordon; siblings: Jacquline Page, James C. Smith, Avery Smith (Marasha), and Lakisha Smith; her special god family, the Wilson Family: Javon and Tasha Wilson, Ariana Wilson, Austin Wilson, Ayden Wilson, who all called her Gigi.  She also leaves behind a host of Relatives and Friends.
