Mrs. Albirtha Crawford Howze, 88, of 412 Byars Street, Rock Hill, SC gained her wings on Saturday, February 8, 2020 surrounded in the comfort and care of her loving family. 
She was born May 27, 1931 in Landsford, Chester County, SC to Leonard Crawford and Cora Ferguson Crawford. Albirtha attended public schools in Chester County, SC.  She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and became a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Edgemoor, SC.  She later joined St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC as an associate member in November 2017.  There she served faithfully with the Soup Kitchen and the Adult Sunday School class. 
Albirtha united in marriage and celebrated a 46-year loving commitment with the late Ervin Howze, Jr.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also worked for many years in textiles, retiring from Pharr Yarns in Clover, SC.
She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Cora Ferguson Crawford; her brothers, Woodrow Crawford, Sr, Leonard Crawford, Jr., and Elder Jessie Ed Crawford; her sisters, Veola Crawford, Amelia Crawford, Artimishel C. Cherry, and Dr. Susie C. Douglass.
Those left to lift her cherished memories are her son James L. Howze, Sr. (Louretta) of Charlotte, NC, and daughter, Albemteen Howze Snorton of Greenville, SC; sisters, Nora C. Johnson of Richmond Hill, NY and Mary E. Crawford of Rock Hill, SC; a brother-in-law, Lindsey Howze of Springfield, VA; a sister-in-law, Catherine A. Howze of Edgemoor, SC; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including her neighbor and caregiver, George C. Harris of Rock Hill, SC.
Special thank you to Rev. Dr. Otto Harris, III, Rev. Dishawn Muldrow, Bethel UMC Church Family, St. Mark's UMC-Charlotte Church Family, City of Rock Hill Police Department, Dr. Nix and the Staff of Atrium Health, and Hospice and Palliative Care-Charlotte.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 15th at the Chapel at Wright Funeral Home in York.  Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, 620 S. Cherry Road in Rock Hill.  The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service, and other times at 412 Byars Street, Rock Hill and 7548 Wister Place, Charlotte, NC.
