Mr. Henry Lewis Anderson, 66, of 124 Red Maple Lane, Lake Wylie, SC 29710 quietly slipped into eternal rest on Friday, March 16, 2018 at home.  He was born on December 19, 1951 in Gaston County to the late Joseph Wylie Anderson and Maggie Durham Anderson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, March 23, 2018 at Liberty Hill AME Zion Church in Lake Wylie, SC with Rev. Thelma Gordon officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 pm prior to the service, and other times at 5825 Oakridge Road, Clover, SC.

Henry was educated in the Gaston and York County Public Schools. He was employed by Westinghouse, Galey & Lord Inc. and retired from American & Efird LLC in Gastonia.

Henry has been a faithful member of Liberty Hill AME Zion Church, born again and filled with the precious Holy Spirit. He was committed to the betterment of the church and served on the Trustee Board, Usher Board, Men’s Ministry and Liberty Hill Male Choir.

Henry met Mildred Anderson in high school and they married May 1, 2004.  Together they shared a blended family of 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Henry had a great love for family and friends often sharing stories about them around the home.  Henry gave his heart to his wife and children.  As “Paw Paw,” he had a special love for NaDhra and the other grandchildren. He not only gave love but was loved by many for his cordial personality and gentle, caring spirit. He was a man of integrity and had the patience of Job!

Henry had a love for all kinds of music and would often be called upon to “DJ” many get togethers. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and he was an avid sportsman.  His favorite teams were The Pittsburg Steelers and the Duke Blue Devils! Henry will surely be remembered for his “SMILE”, Pastor Gordon said a “Smile that could melt rocks!”

He is preceded in death by his siblings: Joseph, James, Harry, Alfred Anderson and Barbara Floyd.

Cherishing Henry’s love and precious memories are: His wife, Mildred Anderson of the home; daughter, LaShonna Simpson of Marietta, GA; son, Dewayne Robbins of Gastonia, NC; two blended children, Jonathan McGill of the home and Candace McGill of Gastonia, NC; five grandchildren: NaDhra Simpson of Marietta Ga, Xzavier Holmes, Alexis McGill, Davontrae Holmes, Aaliyah Holmes all of Gastonia, NC; and a host of special nieces and nephews: Wilma Boyd (Raymond), James Floyd (Deana), Barbara Floyd (Ivory), Theresa Kennedy (Clemmie), Joseph Floyd (Paulette), special friends: Jack and Charlene Thomas; Ricky and Violet Bailey and Mary Fewell; and many other loving family and friends.

This husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend will always be profoundly and lovingly remembered from the special deposits he made in each of the lives he touched. We will miss you, we will hurt and long for your presence with us, we will cry, time will pass, things will change from day to day, but one thing for sure, “Your legacy as a man of faith, love, kindness and gentleness will always remain the same.”

I would like to express my deepest sympathy in the loss of your beloved family member. Coping with the death of a loved one may be one of the hardest challenges you will ever face. But our loving God Jehovah provides comfort to help you with your loss. Psalm 147:3 says; He (God) heals the brokenhearted; He binds up their wounds. And the wonderful promise for the future at Isaiah 25:8; He (God) will swallow up death forever. And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe the tears from all faces. Be assured that God’s words always find complete fulfillment (Isaiah 55:11). To learn more please visit our website: jw.org and view the faith strengthening video; Is There Hope for the Dead?
